Phu Quoc Great Flower-shaped Coral Cluster – Phu Quoc snorkeling – Phu Quoc Guide
Phu Quoc Shallow Reef is about 12 km off the An Thoi harbor by the South, it is quite one of the kingdoms of Acropora Cytherya or it is called Table Coral for short, this is also common coral species throughout the tropical waters of the Pacific sea in general and Phu Quoc in particular.
In Phu Quoc Shallow Reef we find thousands of square meters of Table Corals. Possessing ideal conditions for the development of coral reefs, especially toward Acropora Cytherya or Table coral reef such as low tidewater, clean and warm water… by these reasons we can comprehend partly how Table corals here develop so strong. From above, this Table coral reef resembles a large cluster of flowers as the photo above thereby we named it Phu Quoc Great Flower-shaped coral cluster. The coral cluster has been growing into flowers in shape from the pristine small Table corals at the seabed. The highest point on the Phu Quoc Great Flower-shaped coral cluster is about 1.5 m in height and 7-8 m across.

Having a glimpse of the area of the Phu Quoc Great Flower-shaped Coral cluster you will see the presence of Brain Corals, Massive Corals (Porites Lutea) and Bushy coral (Pocillopora Damicomis). The Great Flower-shaped Coral cluster is located at the depth of over 3 m. The Phu Quoc Great Flower-shaped Coral cluster is in luck owning to the depth of the location of the coral cluster, it is a trace of difficult for ignorance as well as irresponsible tourists to get close to, therefore the state of health of it or at least it’s integrity in shape is temporarily not imperiled by several threats from human but not falling into the bad situation like many other large Table coral reefs in the South sea of Phu Quoc which are even heavily damaged. Due to the depth of 3 m of the coral cluster that makes us confused about the color of the coral cluster, our eyes are confused the dark green of coral with dark black, but sincerity I cannot tell you for sure whether the coral cluster is still in a good state of health.

At a closer, to the Phu Quoc Great Flower-shaped Coral cluster, you will recognize the color of the coral cluster easier. The coral cluster is not as green as new corals but from my sense, the coral is still alive and you can completely enjoy its beauty.

In the quiet scenery of pristine islands, getting into the water slowly swimming along the large area to obtain the feeling of becoming tiny in the vast ocean was quite an experience I got through the exploration of the Phu Quoc Great Flower-shaped Coral cluster.

With the massive size, this is an ideal place for many schools of fish and marine species to rely on for shelter as well as for food, swimming over the coral cluster at a close distance in order to obtain another view of the life of marine species would be an amazing experience that you are capable of doing. In exploring the coral cluster you will run into scenes that are the very image of ocean scenery on TV marine shows.

The Phu Quoc Great Flower-shaped Coral cluster is about 7 – 8 m in length and 5 m in the widest place, it probably takes almost 1 minute if you would like to observe the coral cluster and marine species around it.

Different views from different corners right above the coral cluster. In observing the coral cluster you will see a lot of Atherinidae which is one of the common types of fish in the Phu Quoc Sea. After exploring this coral cluster you can go on exploring other large table coral colonies nearby.
